Our Paint Correction Procedure

Step 1: Wash And Clay Bar

The first step of the paint correction procedure involves removing any contaminants from the surface of the paintwork. This is done with a thorough hand wash and clay bar treatment. Automotive Clay Bar is a non-abrasive resin mixture that is specifically designed to completely remove all foreign matter (e.g. dust particles, dirt, brake dust, industrial fallout, etc) and pollutants from the tiny pores on the surface of your car’s paint.

Step 2: Wet Sanding Or Leveling (If Required)

If your car’s paint has a scratch or blemish that cannot be removed by the standard paint correction techniques of multi-stage buffing and polishing, wet sanding is a prerequisite step that is required to remove these defects. This wet sanding process is performed using automotive sandpaper to level and gently remove the top layer of your car’s paintwork. Followed by numerous stages of compounding, polishing and jeweling to make sure any imperfections are completely removed from the paint surface before buffing and polishing.

Step 3: Buffing & Polishing

The buffing and polishing procedure will differ from vehicle to vehicle — depending on a number of factors including the amount and type of clear coat used on your vehicle, whether it is single stage paint or not, and the severity of the imperfections found on the paintwork. For example, vehicles that have been wet sanded will often require a multi-step buffing and polishing process which involves using 3-4 different types of polishing pads and several different types of polishing treatments.

Step 4: Sealing And Paint Protection

After paint correction has been achieved, your car’s paintwork will then be sealed with a durable paint protection sealant or coating. This will give your vehicle a glossy hydrophobic surface that helps minimize further scratching and scuff marks, repels water, blocks dirt and protects your vehicle on an ongoing basis. The type of paint protection sealant and coating used on your vehicle will depend on the paint correction service you choose (see below for paint correction costs and packages).
